CSF stands for Cerebrospinal Fluid, and it is the clear bodily fluid that surrounds the brain and exists in the central canal the spinal cord. It helps protect the brain from injury and infection. CSF can leak out of the nose, ear, or head after physical trauma, surgery, or a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). Other symptoms include severe headaches.
